A South Florida resident his entire life, Rick Murphy grew up hunting and fishing from the Keys to Lake
Okeechobee. All his life he' had the good fortune to share his knowledge and experiences with anglers
of all abilities, while working as a fishing guide, television host and professional tournament angler.
Capt. Rick Murphy earned his reputation in the waters of Biscayne Bay, Everglades National Park and the
Florida Keys by leading his clients to world-class catches and prestigious tournament victories. One of
only two fishing guides to win the four-event Keys Tarpon fly fishing series
(The Golden Fly, The Don Hawley, The Gold Cup and The Ladies World Fly Championship),
Murphy has crossed saltwater boundaries in the tournament genre to win events and Angler of the Year Honors
in the ESPN, FLW and IFA Redfish Tours, as well as on the South Florida blue water Sailfish circuit.
In a nutshell, Capt. Rick Murphy loves to fish, and he doesn't care what the species is, as long at it will
test your skill and sportsmanship to catch. He essentially is living the dream by earning a living doing what
he loves most.
In addition to his many duties as host of Sportsman's Adventures television show, Rick acts as a consultant
to such well-known companies as Yamaha Motor Corporation USA, Contender Boats, Rapala Lures, Costa Del Mar
Sunglasses and Maverick Boat Company. He also presents casting seminars and video presentations at fishing
clubs, and makes appearances at key fishing and boat shows on behalf of his sponsors. Ever since 1988, Rick
has guided his anglers to grand championships in almost every major South Florida fishing tournament.
With names like Stu Apte, Ralph Delph, and Al Pflueger Jr., he has shared many Sportsman's Adventures.
Created with an Emmy award-winning production team, each episode shows what it is like to catch a wide
range of sport fish, under conditions that are as genuine as Murphy himself.
Married and a father of two, Murphy spends his down time with his wife Kathy and sons Collin and Ridge,
hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and enjoying all the natural elements of the Florida landscape.
